PEACE AND SECURITY

Cette journée, je viens de vivre une situation angoissante. Je me suis rendue à l'hôpital Général de référence de Bukavu, situé au chef lieu de la Province du Sud-Kivu, à l'Est de la RDC.
Après avoir visité les malades, j'ai pris contact avec une Soeur réligieuse qui m'a fait part de la présence dans son service social des enfants rescapés des récents massacres de Bunyakiri en Territoire de Kalehe.
Ces derniers dont l'âge varie entre 8 et 2 ans étaient au nombre de 18. Etant donné que leur prise en charge pose encore des problèmes, des démarches avaient été effectués pour qu'ils soient admis au Centre hébérgeant les enfants orphélins, le SOS international. C'est ainsi que il y a eu seulement de place pour 9 enfants, qui selon les déclarations de la Soeur venaient d'être rétirés par les agents dudit centre depuis hier.
Par ailleurs, les 9 autres sont restés à l'hôpital, sous l'encadrement de la Soeur, qui malhereusemnt, son service ne dispose d'aucun appui pour leur prise en charge. J'ai visité ces enfants, ils sont traumatisés; ls ont vus leurs parents et leurs frères abattus à la machette... C'est horrible ! Allez-y comprendre combien les réalités à l'Est de la RDC constituent une boucherie humaine. A quand la justice réellement équitable ? C'est très déplorable et amer.
Certains d'entre ces tout-petits présentent la fièvre, d'autres ne savent où ils sont, ils s'efforcent de méditer sur la situation, ça dépasse leurs capacités.
Il est grand temps que la Paix revienne en RDC et que Justice soit faite.

Today I experienced an agonizing situation. I made a visit to the General Hospital of Bukavu, located in the capitol of the South Kivu province in eastern DRC.

After visiting the sick, I made contact with a religious sister who shared with me the presence, in her service, of children having escaped from the recent massacres of Bunyakiri in the Kalehe territory.

There were 18 children ranging in age from 2 to 8 years. Given that their care was still problematic, steps had been taken for them to be admitted to the housing center for orphans, SOS international.
However they only had space for 9 children, who, according to the Sister, had just been taken by workers of said center yesterday.

On the other hand, the 9 others stayed at the hospital under the care of the Sister, who, sadly, has absolutely no support to take them in. I visited these children - they are traumatized; they saw their parents and their brothers slaughtered with machetes... it's horrible! Try to understand how much the reality of Eastern Congo resembles a human butchery. When will we see equitable justice? It's very deplorable and bitter.

Some of the small children had fevers, others didn't know where they were, they're trying to understand the situation but it's beyond their capacity of understanding.

It's high time that Peace returns to the DRC and that Justice is made.
