An Hour of Celebrations and Connections Led by the World Pulse Digital Ambassadors!

On 9 December 2021, Digital Ambassadors led the monthly #ThrivingThursday call. Open to all badge holders on World Pulse, this #ThrivingThursday is an hour of connecting with each other in sisterhood. This call was a special one - the final one for the year, it was only right to begin the call with celebrations and cheers. Dawn Arteaga kicked us off as the Mother of Ceremonies and invited everyone to share one person they celebrate today from World Pulse. Responses such as ‘we are one, we celebrate all World Pulse sisters’ resonated wide with everyone on the call. 

Stay Updated With Digital Ambassador Stories! 

As we moved on, Dawn encouraged all the Digital Ambassadors to post stories about their training and events led, so the community gets a chance to learn more closely about their work, and can spread the impact far and wide. World Pulse Leadership: Choose What is Right for YOU!

Up next, Dawn also spoke a little about the leadership journey on World Pulse. As some of you might already know, on World Pulse, the more you raise your voice, the more impact you make and weave deeper connections with one another for life. Based on the activities you can engage in, the leadership journey is broken into three main categories, and you can pick what resonates the most with you! 

You can be a Storyteller and speak on issues you are most passionate about. You can be a Champion by encouraging others or signing up to be a community mentor. You can be an Activator by joining the Digital Ambassadors lifting up the voices of women and girls on the ground, or the Featured Changemakers in leading projects to create transformative change offline. I invite you to learn more about the World Pulse leadership journey here and join this collective movement with what speaks out to you the most. 

Launching Changemakers & (Re)Launching Featured Changemakers Program.

Ana Lozano then spoke about how you can use World Pulse to leverage the change you are creating and to amplify your work online. Around the world, women are creating change. Whether it’s through tech innovations, advocacy campaigns, awareness raising and speaking out on issues, capacity building, socio-environmental entrepreneurship. You name it!

So, “why not share your initiative on World Pulse?” she says! In doing so, you can grow your initiative, escalate it, strengthen it as a step towards global visibility, and mobilizing the community to take collective action around it. Launching the World Pulse Spirit Awards, 2021

Up next, Dawn shared the most exciting news we have all been waiting for. It is that time of the year, once again, to nominate your sisters for the SPIRIT AWARDS! If you are new to World Pulse, Spirit Awards, held annually, embody the essence and spirit of World Pulse Community members as we get together to nominate sisters who have lived up to the core of what World Pulse stands for. 

That is, she is ​​someone who lifts up those around them, who speaks out for what they believe, who listens with empathy and without judgment and seeks personal transformation. Who are trustworthy, who connect people and connect with people, and uses technology to fuel passion about making a difference. If you know someone who fits this bill, nominate her today here!! 

Breakout Sessions Hosted by Digital Ambassadors 

Upon completing these announcements and connecting with each other, it was time to move to the breakout session. The format of the #ThrivingThursday allows for Digital Ambassadors to sign up as trainers to lead a breakout session. Each call can have multiple trainers and the participants can choose the room that is most relevant to them. 

For this call, we had Feka from Cameroon leading a session on Resilience in Effecting Change as a Changemaker and World Pulse Product Manager, Lourdes, showing us a small sneak peek into the new World Pulse platform set to launch early 2022! I was part of Lourdes’s room, and she showed us the user experience of posting a story and some apparent changes made to improve the accessibility and writing experience of authors. Though I missed Feka’s session, I know it went really well and the participants felt they took something away based on all the appreciation coming her way! 

At the end of the call, I, as a storyteller for the call, shared a round-up of what happened in the one hour to close the call. Personally, meeting the community members from different places and listening to their experiences has had a tremendous impact on me over the years. I not only feel like I am sitting in a room next to them and holding their hands, during this one hour, but I also know I am building a sacred bond with everyone.
