Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, encourages women scientists to pursue research in frontier areas of science and engineering, on problems of societal relevance. Women Scientists Scheme-A (WOS-A) provides a platform to women scientists for pursuing research in basic or applied sciences.

The scheme plays a pivotal role in gender mainstreaming as it focuses on retaining women in the system.

Eligibility: The scheme is meant to encourage women (between age 27-57) having a break in career and not having regular employment, to explore the possibility of re-entry into the profession.

This scheme will provide a research grant for a well-defined project proposal for a period of maximum three years. This grant will cover the fellowship of the applicant and the cost of small equipment, contingencies, travel, consumables, etc.

No deadline - Applications can be sent year-round.
