Pakistan: Every girl needs encouragement and an opportunity to prove herself

Encouragement is not only a word its a gentle tap on someone'shoulder saying

"move forward we are with you"

Pakistan is the society where for girls opportunities are very limited. From home to job and job to home she is always critically examined. Her dressing , language, gesture, comany each thing is a publc topic. Unlike USA and UK where no one cares what are you wearing or doing??

I have seen a lot of girls who were full of talent but their low confidence and their family discouragement made ther life tough. When i was doing job and i left studies as my family could not support it further.

I was encouraged by the Principal of the school who asked me to give entry test for admission in the university. I got selected and now the problem arose. How i would pay my semester fee??? I talked to my management nd took my four months pay in advance and paid the fee. I started going to university but local travelling was tough. I was criticized by my neighbours for coming 8p.m or 9 p.m. I was worried because of this and i talked to my school principal and he said hire the school van and gather the girls. We put a notice on board for school van and it was managed. These were the encouragements made and the problems were solved.

As an interviewer in the school i encouraged a lot of girls. One day a girl came and she was very shy. She could not answer any questions in the interview. I talked to her separately and i came to know that she belongs to a poor family and she has the skills but she is very shy. We gave her the job i encouraged her daily , helped her, made her speak , taught her use of computer and she was the best teacher of kindergarten.

Pakistan has now changed a lot. Girls are doing jobs in every field. But still their family restricts them and ask them to stay at home.

A big need of the hour is that we should opportunity for online work so the women who can't get out of their houses can earn a good living for them and their family. Stay blessed.

Dear Mannat,

I believe in your power to create change in your community. Keep inspiring more girls to come out of their shells. Cultures and traditions can sometime limit us as women, but the power and willingness to succeed is a strong driving force. Thank you for sharing this experience

Love

Hi Mannat. Thanks for sharing your story about encouragement. I agree one word of encouragement can literally make the world of difference. I do think girls and women are scrutinized in the US and the UK but just not to the level that you have experienced. Girls and women need to embolden themselves worldwide to be authentic, genuine and strong individuals that go after their dreams, regardless of any stigmas or expectations that are set on them. Just so you know, make sure that you are clicking on the "reply to this" button under each person's comment, if you would like to reply to them, otherwise they won't see your comment. They get an automatic reply message in their email as soon as you select "reply to this." If you don't, they won't see your comment, unless they go back to the story to see if you have written back. Just an FYI:-) I would love to hear more about your vision for helping girls have more opportunities and what your plan is.

The type of feedback you have given is really a motivation for me.
