An Imminent Earthquake Two Years After Two Hurricanes is Too Much Trauma but Lots of Resilency

Posted January 11, 2020 from Costa Rica

Its been two years since Puerto Rico was stick by two hurricanes and now as of last week, we has been experiencing 5.0 - 6.0 shakes and threat of imminent earthquake.

The only lesson I can share with you right now is to remember that community is the only thing that can help anyone overcome the trauma of natural disaster and the not so natural impact on  people and territories.

I am currently in the Caribbean Island caring for my 98 year old mother even though I live in blessed Costa Rica here hardly any such natural disasters take place.

I will not be able to write much for a while as we are without electricity, connectivity and services, but we have health and hope.

Dear Maria,
Am so sorry about the natural disasters. It's sad that we shall not hear from you in a while. But you are with us in spirit. Take heart the situation will improve.
Stay blessed

Hello, dear Maria,

I truly understand what you are going through. Our country has been hit with the strongest earthquakes last year, and today we are currently monitoring the eruption of an active volcano.

My heart goes out with you all. It's true that we need our community to support us. Please stay strong and stay safe there. Please update us, too!

Hi Maria,
What a traumatic experience there. I honestly think people living in such countries of hurricanes and Earth quakes are really brave and strong persons.
I can't image how I will feel experiencing such traumatic incidents :-(.
Wow, your mom's age is amazing. Is she still a little very active? My grand mother passed away at age 130. Actually she thought she was 200 years haha. Old age hmm.
We will surely missed you but it's worth it.
Take care there :-)
Hugs
