I am so so excited, tomorrow we officially move into our office at the House of Hope and healing or triple H as I call it. It's not a big or functional house per se, but's a big milestone and am not ignoring that milestone.

My association Hope for the Abused and Battered was registered exactly on the 10th of December 2018, isn't that a date I can't ever forget? The date marks the end of the #16days of activism against GBV - am planning a small celebration in our new office.

It is small, but has a safe space I wanted cut out for my sisters and other abused victims who will need just such a space when they come to us.

For a year, I ran our activities from my home, cheered on by my mentors like GS Sophie and Olutossin (by trasference hahahaha), all my sisters here on World Pulse rock too, I can't write down all the names.

So on December 5th I put up a post calling or help to equip our new office and wrote the following:

Hello all,

5 days to our 1st anniversary, we are getting ready to move into our own office. Previously we shared office space and consider it a huge milestone to be moving into ours as we turn 1.

Are you moved to help us in this? Do you have a office equipment you may want to donate to us? We need a safe space to receive and work with the many abused and battered we receive, especially the children victims of rape and incest.

Since the year started, our founder has been doing all this from her home, while administrative work was done in that shared office.

Our needs are few: A desktop A printer 6 office chairs (we appreciate any be it wooden, plastic or leather) 3 office tables A small therapeutic sofa 3 fans or an AC why not More carpeting for the entire office - not only the safe space.

The office as you can see has been partitioned so that we have a noise proof consultantion and counseling area. We are also hoping to taint the glasses so no one from the outside can see the emotions released inside.

As part of the project AAF with Idps' in Douala, it was part of the agreement with the funders that we have a functional office (and the items listed above are not budgeted items in the grant)

On behalf of the association, I (Barrister Marie Abanga - founder) personally want to thank each one who will reach out to give towards this office equipping project either in kind or cash.

The same day I received a printer first, a fan and plastic carpet. The next day, I received 4 plastic chairs. I add these to the filling cupboard, office desk and 4 others chairs I had received as a parting gift from the office space I shared as a lawyer.

I am lucky, happy and emotional - the triple H is in my neigbourhood, maximum 3 minutes from my home and 1 minute from the clinic where I worked for a while as a psychotherapist.

I want to encourage us all to never give up on our dreams, to always be grateful, and to never despise our humble beginnings hurray.
