Selfie time with the girls

Within the #EmpowerMeDontBlameMe framework we have our annual campaign which is out to empower young girls with knowledge about their sexuality, sexual rights and responsibilities as well as skills which can fetch them income.

This year the campaign holiday free of Unwanted Pregnancy and Abortion touched 140 girls within mezam division. We looked at topics like:

Coping with parental and peer pressure, menstrual cycle, building your self esteem, use of contraceptive, needs and wants, vagina care and function, career orientation and many more.

Within this eight weeks exercise we taught the girls basic skills to generate quick income with minimal capital. Many wished to start something but we lacked resources.

Rendezvous July 2019 with another edition.

How many people have you impacted since your last update?

My dear Edith you have said it all. This program was inspired by our parents' silence and the young people's need for this knowledge. Last year we targeted parents. Next year it will be both

Dear Sally,

Seeing all of these beautiful faces of young women, and some young men, I can well imagine that their lives will have been changed forever from having the time with you on these critically important issues. What a gift you offer, the chance to hear from you, talk openly with you and discuss with each other. Wonderful work.

In sisterhood,

Tam

It was a great encounter. The young people expressed lots of gratitude too and wished for us to create a permanent club for such discussions

Hi Sally, How are you doing? Thanks for sharing your campaign update. It sounds like you had a successful event. What skills did you train on? You mean you lacked funding, or funding and other resources as well?

Hope you and your family are safe and well!?

It was a great campaign. We trained on making basic snacks, salads as well as wash soap making.

Some of the girls wanted to start trading the items learned but had a capital to start up.

We are hoping that next year we will be able to give start ups to girls that we train

Thanks Sally for the initiative and for the economic empowerment bit I would advise that you encourage the girls to form small savings groups and also teach them basic business practical skills in their communities using common sense ideas like making snacks, soap making those that do not involve a lot of capital input.

Hi Sally,

What a powerful 8 weeks. Thank you for helping so many girls.

You were sharing so much important information across so many areas. I think it's amazing many were inspired to start up businesses and I would love to hear more about how you help them with that and what businesses they start in the future.

Best wishes, Kyla

Brilliant! I am ever so wowed by amazing women like you, who are taking no chances at ensuring that the next generation of women in their countries and the world, is suitably prepared for success in different aspects of their lives! I am thankful to the heavens for you. The world is a better place because of you. Thank you my sister.
