My asset map

A society where the identity of a woman is not determined or influenced by how men and cultural norms dictate, women seeing themselves as part of a whole thereby avoiding conflict among them, and girls being given values to be successful is what I hope and dream of. So far I have been using my job to achieve some of this. I make us of the slightest opportunities I get during my lessons to do. In our community, I always try to spark a debate on issues so that women share their views. I can't be silent. When I look at what my mother did for my siblings and l in the kind of situation we experienced, I fill inspired. Out of very little resources she gave us the best. Many social activists have mentored me. I have learned a lot from them. These activist work in programs like stand up for girls, action against gender based violence and women empowerment. The confidence and fearlessness with which they address the subject matter really inspired me. A particular person in the divisional delegate of women affairs and the family who fought for my kids and I to be treated right by my husband despite the fact she is a friend to him. I ask a lot of questions to her and even some women on this online community which is building the power in me to change the story of my community women. I am confident that if I acquiring skills in conflict management, counselling and designing projects/programs I will contribute immensely in helping women in my community.
