Keto diet



My cousin shared with me her keto diet story , she said she was on keto diet from last month , but nw she is feeling very fatigued.l and pain in her kidney ,  I asked her about the diet plan ,and came to know that she is not following the actual keto plan. Many people in the world dnt take the plan from dietitian but they searched it on internet and follow that .



I want to share my knowledge about ketogenic diet.



The ketogenic diet is the ultimate low carbohydrate,  moderate protein and high fat diet for weight loss.  Over eight decades ago it was used as a mainstream of therapy to help treat epilepsy in children but then soon it was discovered that it burns the body fat instead of carbs for energy. 



It helps by boosting metabolism and reducing the appetite.  It consists of foods that fill a person up and may reduce hunger-stimulating hormone,  thats why it may reduce appetite and promote weight loss . 



Rachel kleiman , RDN ,LDN clinical dietitian  at Ingalls said that the keto diet is primarily used to manage seizures in children with epilepsy.  Research on diets effectiveness in treating obesity and diabetes is limited .



The diet may have anti-aging , anti-inflammatory  and cancer-fighting benefits. In 2012 study , its said that by decreasing carbs jntake acne symptoms can b reduced . 



2018 study suggests because ketogenic diet reduces blood sugar , it could also lower the risk of insulin complications. 



It also improves heart health , as we choose good healthy fats that can help improve heart health by reducing cholesterol. 



Improves PCOS symptoms .



It also have bad points like some people report that when they start ketosis they feel sick "says Kizer. .



There can be sometimes be vomit , gastro distress , lots if fatigue and lethargy . 



A person can have severe diarrhoea beacuse of lack of fiber in diet .



In diabetes patients it can triggers a dangerous condition called ketoacidosis because of low carb diet .



This condition can damage liver , kidneys and brain .



Increased risk of heart disease because of high fat diet may raise cholesterol levels. 



And it also causes weight regain . Because of it a person can have kidney stones excess protein in blood , minerals and vitamins deficiency and the fatty liver . 



I think we should not follow this diet,  what u think ?
