I believe in God...but what pissed me off...is the interpretation of the bible.. when the society refers to it every time.. ...when they want to define a woman's position...wife submit to your husband, wife ur husband is the head of the house..wife ur husband owns ur body...women are reminded everyday of what the Bible say about them...come to think of it ....is it not that same bible which says Man... a woman is ur companion , husband love ur wife as u love urself...a woman is made from ur ribs...she is ur equal...But men pretend not to read those verses of the bible...we all hear quotations when it comes to women...PATRIARCHS STOP USING THE BIBLE TO JUSTIFY UR SUBORDINATION TOWARDS WOMEN.....THE BIBLE HAS OBLIGATIONS FOR EVERYBODY NOT ONLY FOR WOMEN...
Hi Mba. I applaud your courage for writing this story and I completely agree with you. While I remain agnostic about God, in general, because I do believe there is a greater force, I do believe the passages about women, in general, in the Bible don't help women out, especially in the New Testament. I took a class in my undergraduate studies about Women in Religion and it was definitely eye opening. I would even go so far as to say I'm concerned about women and girls that religiously follow (no pun intended) the Bible and it's messages because I'm wondering what kind of a negative impact it could have on them. It's not empowering to eradicate women from history, for a start, as they did in the New Testament.
Hello Mba,
You have said it like it is. Men interpret the bible to suit their selfish desires. This goes a long way to tell us that patriarchy is real. But it is time we stand up and change the things we feel we can change. You are doing just that.
Thank you for sounding this whistle.
Regards
Nakinti
Thank very much .....that is why feminist came out with the women,s bible to deconstruct every thing.. well not loose our passion
Hi Mba, I totally agree with you.God is wonderful and created a woman to be more resistant than a man.The bible is our life told from our creation to our death and we must stay firm to it and hold on to the word.Men will always be who they are, that's why when Eve brought the fruit Adam ate it without reminding her that it was going to put them into trouble. But when God came Adam pushed the blame onto Eve and to God by saying "The woman You gave me caused me to eat of the fruit".
