Help Me Finish Medical School

Hello, My name is Precious, I’m a Canadian citizen, originally from Zimbabwe. I was a Registered Nurse a few years ago until I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a Medical Doctor. I love patient care and strongly believe my vocation is to help others in this field.

I am currently a medical student at the Windsor University School of Medicine, located in St. Kitts & Nevis, and I am on my way to completing my second year of study. I’m asking for help to fund the second half of this 4 year program, as I have run into some financial difficulty. Due to unforeseen circumstances, my husband and I do not have the financial resources necessary to complete the program. To help support my dream, my husband left his career as a police officer in Canada to move here and be present with our 2 year old daughter while I’m at school and spending many of my waking hours studying. So we do not have any income at this time.

We’ve looked into finding a less expensive school and one which has a good relationship with Canada Student Loans, but my school is the least expensive and the student loan will not be enough to cover the difference if I change schools. Our personal savings and the little bit we received from student loans has carried us a long way and we do not want to return home without completing what we set out to do.

I have also looked into applying for a bank loan, but unfortunately I need a co-signer and have not been able to find one. The estimated cost of tuition & books, living expenses, and travel expenses (the 3rd & 4th yr are in the U.S. and some travel between states may be required during that time for clinical rotations) will be approximately $100,000. This is a high estimate. It may end up costing less and we do have some savings left to help with these expenses, but I want to make sure we have a bit of a buffer just in case there are any other surprises.

I am asking everyone to please help me raise this amount so that all my hard work and our life savings does not go to waste.

Best Regards,

Precious Pedersen
