|MY BLOOD HAS ARRIVED|

Like many women, I have tried to control the flow of my blood, I have tried to dictate my menstrual flow according to dates and phases of the moons. I have been taught on the way that menstrual awareness does not mean controlling. My blood flows and informs me and beyond all, my body informs me and what is often viewed as irregular menses, late menses, long menses, painful menses, held up menses, are simply ways that my body is working in bringing balance to it's rightful place.

Many women believe that menstrual pain is normal. It is not normal. It is the body's way of bringing about balance. It is the body's way of slowing us down because menstruation is more than just monthly bleeding, it is one of the most profound movement of life and death cycle embodied in a woman's body.   I am witnessing the debate and the mocking happening around "menstruation leaves for women". My heart aches and smiles at the same time, there is so much that we are yet to re-member and remember about how women's bodies are clocked into the rhythmical cycles of nature. I see women applauding themselves for enduring pain, for still showing up and performing the tasks they have taken up, I read women celebrating the fact that they got up after delivery and returned to their chores.   As I read all this, I hold my heart and my body in deep kindness and gentleness, for what I read are women disconnected from their bodies, women unable to pause to honor movements that have happened and are happening in their body, women that are in many instances living in a trauma driven world that they survive through giving and giving to others.   I read words of burn-out women born from wombs of burn-out neurotic mothers .   My words may tinkle hard but this is my read.   If we celebrate more giving and more performing when the body is asking for rest and integration then we are doomed for irreversible damage. As we look around  us, we notice that we do same in nature. We do not let nature rest, we are always trying to pump and pump resources even when earth is screaming bareness.   We say that wherever there are carvings and woundings in nature, the same are reflected on women's bodies. Women cannot change the world by screaming "change" but instead, women can and have the power to change by taking ownership of their cycles and their bodies, by walking home to their bodies.   Join me for the 13Weeks Menstruation Wom(b)en Wisdom Journey from 26th June 2021 to 25th September 2021
