ABUSE

ABUSE
Abuse is defined by the new Webster dictionary as the cruel treatment of persons. We often talk of abuse in terms of gender (1) ABUSE OF WOMEN
(2) CHILD ABUSE
(3) ANIMALS etc
But most often there is one form of abuse that is often neglected
(4) ABUSE OF DOMESTIC STAFFS.. this form of abuse is often not talked about but sadly this is the most common abuse we face in our society especially in CAMEROON due to the ongoing crisis in the English speaking regions. Many people especially children have run away from the risky environments into the major cities causing unfriendly exudus and untold sufferings
In order to survive these children of between 12-15 volunteer as house helps in order to feed and have shelter. Since they are so young families employ their services at little or no cost. Some pay them as little ad 10000CFA. but subject them to all kinds of manual work ranging from laundry to cleaning and cooking. Some of them are used as sales girls for the families and duped to believe that after a period of time they   will be sent to school but years go by with no change of their situation
Since these kids are so readily available. Their employers do not hesitate to send them away  and employ another once you start asking many questions.  There is this woman in my neighbourhood who have changed 6 already since September last year. She acts like she is doing them a great favour by taking them off the streets. We could no longer accommodate her abuse on these kids so we had to report her to the SOCIAL welfare that is already looking into her case.
