Please answer these 5 questions in World Pulse or reply privately to: [email protected] by 20 December 2018.
It does not matter if you cannot answer all questions.
1 Are you aware of the child widows issue or not?
2 If you are aware, then how did you get your information about child widows; were you a child widow yourself, do you know someone who is, do you know NGOs who support child widows, because child widows exist in your country/region, etc ?
3 If you have direct contact with child widows, what kinds of support do these child widows need?
4 What are your suggestions for addressing the issue of child widows at the local, national and international level?
5 Do you think there is enough information readily available about child widows or is more information needed?
Concrete information from you can help convince the UN to take notice and influence the lives of millions of vulnerable young girls.
Many thanks for your help.

1. I am aware of the issue.
2. My awareness was raised by stories in WorldPulse.
3. I have no direct contact.
4. Internationally pressing for all governments to have a welfare system in place to provide a liveable income to any child widow, to work actively against social discrimination and to provide free education as a basic human right for all children.
5. More information is needed to draw attention to child widows, in the context of the basic human right to survival, and compensation for the lack of right for every person male and female to choose his or her own life.

Dear Florence,
Many thanks for your response, it is helpful to understand how many people are aware of child widows. If you know of organisations who support child widows in Nigeria I would be very interested to know who they are as it could be very helpful to ask them how they support child widows. You can contact me here or through our NGO website at: [email protected]
Can I ask you please more specifically how you know about child widows and where in Nigeria?
Many thanks
