I am committed to keeping children safe. I am the Founding Director of a programme in South Africa called I PROTECT ME, which trains self-protection to children in schools and other vulnerable adults in the community, raising awareness of gender based violence and rape.and training self-defence techniques (www.iprotectmesouthafrica.org).
Working with other community and religious organisations, we are able to deliver the training FREE to make sure it reaches those who need the training most, downtown, in poorer areas where unemployment is high and money is low.
The system of training has saved many from sexual assault in other parts of Africa. We invite other organisations to be in touch if they wish to collaborate with us to prove that self-protection reduces sexual attacks, especially amongst teens. The method of training has been successfully used in Kenya for many years and we work in partnership in other parts of Africa.
We have a duty to speak up against violence, abuse and prejudice, against demeaning language, jokes, the use of stereotypes, against discrimination of any type or form.
