Volunteer in Action

The Content of My Elevator Pitch

"A big misconception with youth in Kenya today is “I don’t have enough money to make a difference!” What about volunteering? It’s one of the ways you can make a tremendous impact by coming up with innovate solutions for your community. I’m Memory, founder of Humanity First Organization. We have a volunteer program that targets disadvantaged youth. We teach that money is not the only driver of change, but the desire to transform your community."

More About the Volunteer Program

  1. The Volunteer program is targeted to mainly youth who reside within the slums in Nairobi, Kenya.
  2. The Volunteer program take 8 months to complete.
  3. The Volunteer program offers addition life skills such as entrepreneurship
  4. The volunteer stations for the program are community based organizations such as schools and libraries.

Find out more about the Volunteer program on www.hfke.org

As the program continues to evolve I welcome suggestions of how I can improve this volunteer program. One of the reasons I choose to set up a volunteer program is that I would like to impart a selfless habit to help the community, to the next generation of leaders in Kenya.

How to Get Involved

Look around you... Is there anyway you may help out?

Is there need for volunteers to run after school programs  like book club, volleyball?? Is there a school that is in need of tutors? What about your community in general, is it trash free or can you organize a clean-up? Is there a pet shelter around you? So many ways to impact your own communities.

Join me in making a difference in your communities.

Thank you so much!!!!

Yes, its a tough road asking people to volunteer, but one volunteer at a time, we can have a great impact in our communities.

Join me in this journey... volunteer in your community. :D

Hi Memory

What a powerful message! Indeed we do not need money to volunteer!

Great elevator pitch!

I will check out your website. Interested to know more about Humanity First Organisation - how many volunteers do you have at the moment?

Wow Morode

Your volunteer program is a very good initiative for the youth. These days the youth are so money minded and yet we need to work together so that we transform our communities. I look forward to hearing more of your stories. Please keep us posted.

Thank you for sharing. Stay blessed

Hello Mrs. Anita Muhanguzi,

Thank you for continually supporting me by reading my posts! Yes youth are a tough lot to get through, but in the end this will benefit them as they will be aware of what needs the society requires the most. I am hoping they come up with innovative ways to solve the everyday problems within the slums.

I will definitely keep you updated. Also we have a FB page: humanityfirstorganization, as well as a twitter handle @HuFirstOrg. Please feel free to connect with me through those platforms.

Thank you for the blessings...

An excellent speech, with a great message!  Yes, even if you don't have money, everyone can find the time and talent to volunteer for a cause.  I look forward to hearing how volunteers help you with your vision for Kenya.  Keep us posted!

Asante sana,

Barbara

This is such a wonderful idea. The same problem in my area is ...almost nobody wants to do volunteer work. I volunteer at church, work place and to help women with fistula. others think volunteering is for retired people, as one of my friend says. We don't know when we are leaving this world, we have to give what we can today.

Thank you for the speech

Mulatwa Mosisa,

LOL... for retired people??? That is a first I have heard... With my experience, I am always told volunteering is for people from the west! Thank you for volunteering yourself, fistula affects many women in my country and they don't get the medical treatment needed... If you are running an awareness campaign I can also spread the word through the organization's social media platform...

Keep on giving, keep on volunteering!

God Bless!
