I am Mugisho N Theophile, from the DR Congo. I am madly passionate about women and children's rights and empowerment.
I am a co-founder of COFAPRI (Congolese Female Action for Promoting Rights and Development). COFAPRI is based in Bukavu in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. We help rural women in DR Congo who have been raped to become involved in income generating activities and sponsor school education of children born of rape.
I live in Kigali Rwanda due to work but I often cross the border to meet the women and children we work with in the rural DR Congo.
COFAPRI is a Safe World for Women Field Partner and an active Member of the Alliance for a Safe World
My vision for the future is to have a DR Congo and the world with less violence to rural women and children. Equally, I dream to see all rural women being empowered through education, formal or informal, and being valued as human beings with rights, not being subjected to discriminatory rules and traditions at all levels of society.
