A few minutes as you enter Kakamega town from Kisumu city, a yawning crying stone on your right keeps spewing water showing signs of the rich culture the region offers.



Known for its minerals and geology, Kakamega County and the entire Western region is rich in culture and health.



This is the home of isikuti dance, Bull fighting, usuma naingokho, murere, lisutsa, tsimboga, ovyova, amafwetere, tsisisi, tsindunda, to mention but a few which parts of enriching products are.



The major resource identified by Kakamega County is the everlasting water availability that last all seasons and an environment conducive enough to serve both summer and winter advantages unlike other counties.



The European and Asian visitors has found solace in Kakamega as a complete circuit for the human needs in terms of leisure as relates to the current county government political, social, and economic and security restructuring as a set piece for sincerity and an enabling environment for investors both locally, regionally and internationally.



According to Suleiman Sumba, the Minister of Culture, Kakamega County, plans are underway by the county government to make the culture sector more vibrant. He says, the county government has partnered with the national government to make sure the crying stone site is refurbished by building a hotel to serve the tourists visiting the site.



The area residents embraced the county governments’ idea saying that this will help grow the economy in Ilesi area and Kakamega County as a whole.



The Kakamega community is proud of the only equatorial forest within the region flanged by Kabras forest, Bunyala forest and to a far distance neighboring county Vihiga forest coupled with Kubasali hills overlooking Elgon and Ruwenzori mountains, a conducive atmosphere for tourism.



This follows the experience from other regions where exploitation of the natural resources has led to disaster. The chamber has also established discourse business engineering desks to lock out middlemen and empower the locals for direct connectivity to the final users of the product.



The Director, Kakamega County Chamber Sustainable Organization for Public Private Sector Entrepreneurial Development (KCCSOPPSED) Prince says that the chamber is trying to come up with methodologies of cottage industries that can maximize and find reason to process to finer details in order to attract good money.



Chitechi says the chamber is planning to train 60 youth per quota as previously introduced to Kenya Maritime Authority for inclusion at the cross border association which is already in existence by the chamber affiliation to COMESA way back 2013.



He explains that the chamber has appealed to the Kakamega county government to partner with Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) as an end result for a tripartite MOU to enable for cost effective programs and projects to the convenience of the tax payer.



He says the chamber has embraced the county government support by the line ministry and calls for further concerns in the other ministries whose functions have since been devolved and he appeals to commercial banks to guarantee chamber members to access funding for their own development.
