Suzette Jordan denied entry to a restaurant because of being a rape victim !

Another appalling incident of victim blaming comes to the fore in Kolkata city. My friend and a rape survivor, Suzette Jordan, recently denied entry into a restaurant / pub in Kolkata, as the manager recognized her to be the "park street rape victim".

She was stopped from entering by one of the staff members, and upon enquiring with the manager, his response was, " Because you are the park street rape victim."

This is what Suzette wrote on her facebook page about the whole incident :

"Another humiliating moment in my life!!!! Was not allowed into a restaurant/pub! Known as. Ginger, Was told by the manager that being the 'PARK STREET RAPE VICTIM' he could not let me in, this was told to me reptedly by the rude manager who brazenly challenged me and added that I could even report his name."

Thousands have come forward to support her, demanding the restaurant's licence be revoked, and a written apology from the manager. A written complaint has been filed by Suzette at a nearby police station.

I hope the court does justice in setting a precedent against those who practice victim blaming and slut shaming.
