One Billion Rising Campaign

The goal of this campaign is to find a real solution to violence towards women in the DRC in the near future. We want women leaders who can move ahead and find a solution to all our problems, especially putting an end to the daily war that just will not end.

We stand hand in hand to refuse each act of violence in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo against women in general. I have a shameful example: a handicapped 14-year-old girl was raped about three weeks ago by the Rwandan Hutu rebels here in Eastern DRC, in Kanyola to be exact, near the territory of Walungu. There were seven of them. The victim walked on all fours, as she had neither crutches nor wheelchair. But the men destroyed her. Now her legs no longer work at all, they’ve been tied together with a string. You see what is happening to us in this country? We’ve had enough. Until we now have V-Day—that is, Vagina Day. It’s such a shame for us women in the DRC.
