Women's voice in peace building

In Cameroon, women's voices in peace building and conflict transformation is something that needs to be promoted. When one listens to women talk about peace, you are made to understand that women can contribute so much to peace building through their ideas.

However, in Cameroon most women have risen their voices to call for peace but not so many ears hear them especially the leading powers.  Most women have had little impact on the people that are victims of conflicts and violence, especially fellow women. Women in contexts affected by
armed conflict continue to be excluded from decision-making with respect to
conflicts.

The impact of violence continues to be
wreaked on women's lives and bodies, inspite of the promises made to protect and guarantee their rights . Many other factors stop women from raising their voices.

Women often have no direct access to the mediator or the official negotiation teams and there is no official, standardised mechanism for accessing information about the peace process and for developing   women’s interests.  Socio-cultural stereotypes beliefs prevent women from entering the official peace processes. women should  be included in peace process even as  informal mediators most women leave the hardships of war and can tell the story better as well as propose possible effective ways for a return to peace.

Women need a chance to bring to the knowledge of everyone the real picture of the violence they face especially in crisis situations as well as propose solutions to bring peace.

Together we can do great things.
Unity is strength.
