What you & I can do NOW for the suffering and pain-stricken victims of the Syrian war...

As Salaamu Alaikum (Greetings of Peace)/Hello,

Yesterday, in my continued eagerness to help the suffering and pain-stricken victims of the Syrian war, I did some research and learned a few things. Islamic Relief who I've planned for sometime now to do volunteer work with in Germany and is the reason they came to mind is in need of coats and other warm clothing for refugees for the Winter season. Interestingly, I learned this on the first day of Winter. Islamic Relief USA who was once collecting donations of clothing for refugees is no longer given the high costs of shipping items overseas to lands refugees are now located in as well as because of the frequent changing living conditions & circumstances of refugees making carrying clothing and other items difficult and burdensome according to one of the workers at Islamic Relief USA (who returned my phone call from California) explained to me today. If you would like to buy some winter clothing for refugees in need or if you have any from your own wardrobe, other family members' and/or friends' wardrobes, please get in contact with Islamic Relief in London as I was told yesterday they're collecting winter coats and other warm clothing and Islamic Relief in Germany. FYI, recently I was told Federal Express or Fed Ex is often a less expensive option for sending things internationally than is the mail service ata post office. Because it's very likely the refugees in America right now and those continuing to come will need to keep warm and therefore would likely needWinter gear, you may wish to contact mosques in your area who are collecting donations including clothing items for refugees ormosques in your area where refugees attend so that you can donate your items in this way. If Winter clothing is distributed to eachrefugee according to need and no more than I think it would not be a burden forthe refugeetohave withhim/her or to take with him/herbecause he/she will be wearing the coat for example or wearing the heavy sweater, etc.

Islamic Relief is very active in Germany right now and from what I learned yesterday in talking with an employee of Islamic Relief in London, they are also very active in the UK and in the United States. I was told Islamic Relief is on the grounds in Syria right now, however since December 15, 2016 they have not been in Aleppo because it's not safe for workers to be there. I've included some details about Islamic Reliefs in the US, UK, and Germany below. If interested, please view one or more of the websites and/or call them directly to learn how you can get winter items you would like to donate to them and/or how you may donate in other ways.

IHH Humanitarian https://www.ihh.org.tr/en is another humanitarian organization, one based in Istanbul, Turkey I spoke with yesterday who is engaging in relief efforts with Syrian victims presently at the boarder of Turkey and Syria. On December 14th, they led a land convoy starting in Istanbul to the Cilvegozu border gates in Hatay. I'm thinking about joining them. I have some reservations though...like not being able to deal with some of the sights of the people, not being able to stomach them, for example, seeing a person with part of his/her head blown off, etc., or the possibility of getting very sick. I gathered some details from one of the persons there who concurred experiencing such things is possible but he assured me they would help me with them. He also said there are professionals in their group. Please pray to Allah that He guide me in knowing what to do.

On another note, Insha Allah/God-Willing I'll be reaching out to contact persons for upcoming and future fundraiser events, dinners, etc. where I can hopefully attend in Europe & in the States as a guest speaker to personally encourage attendees to donate money for victims of war in Syria. At the moment, I'll be focusing on Syria because of the outrageously large number of refugees or people displaced and people having to evacuate the country presently. Besides my passion and desire to help, I have fundraising experience from my college years working for two telephone fundraising companies where Al hamdulilah/Praise be to GodI was one of the few top fundraisers for both. Moreover it's been a long time interest and a goal of mine to utilize the diverse knowledge and skills gained incollege and universities I've attendedand in working in the different places and fields I have worked to assist Muslims and the Muslim community and it seems Allah/God is opening some doors for me now. In my opinion, there couldn't be a more critical time than now. Al hamdulilah/God-Willing yesterday in my search and learning of ways I can help victims of the Syrian war more, I came up with two innovative ideas. Insha Allah/God-Willingmore planning & development is needed before disclosing and launching them. Please pray for me that I hit the ground running and get these initiatives in the works/taking off as soon as possible. If any of you is interested in collaborating with me and others who may be interested in helping as I spread the word, please let me know. Together we can brainstorm how you too can participate from where you live or elsewhere, perhaps with you utilizing some of your unique talents, skills, and experiences. Truth be told, given the urgency, the only thing needed of us is a desire to help with an understanding that Allah/God is on our side, the side of those who assist His Cause.

His Throne extends over the heavens and over the Earth and He feels no tiredness in guarding them, for He is The High, The Supreme. (The Holy Quran, from Ayatul Kursi)

Good day,

Najwa

(Kindly spread the word! Thanks.)
