Advice on ways to support our Syrian refugee brothers and sisters and refugees from other war-torn lands

Salaamu Alaikum (Peace be with you) & Hello,

I have been holding off on copying and pasting this until I reached out to a couple of others to get their adviceon additional ways we can support our Syrian refugee brothers and sisters as was asked of me by Lisa Anderson fromWorld Pulse & Natasha L. I've changed my mind as the advicecan be takenand acted uponimmediatelyparticularly with Trump's executive order having been imposed this past Friday.

Thank you for your patience. I've had some challenges with having regularaccess to internet for a number of weeks now and still the case, however, I'm willing do whatever I can do to help us be able to help and support our refugee neighbors.

From Br./Mr. Mauri' Saalakhan, Peace thru Justice Foundation on 1/22/17:

By ALLAH (GOD), this is a tough question. The crisis in Syria has received far more attention than crises facing other war-torn internal and external refugees in the world...and yet the condition on the ground for the peopleof Syriaremains deplorable!

As I see it, only two things can reallyhelp that situation: (1) constant du'a to ALLAH (GOD); (2) and pressure on all parties to stop the carnage. From my humble perspective there are no clean hands in that conflict, and the people are paying the price for a myriad of self-serving agendas.

Beyond this, educationalinitiatives in the public square - i.e. colleges, libraries, religious institutions, etc., toeducate more people on the need for a more robust refugee policy (in accordance with our national obligations under international law)- are going to be needed to counter the efforts that will be made by forces aligned with this new administration to stop incoming refugees altogether (esp. Muslim refugees).

I thinkhis advicewill be helpful to us. Grateful for it.
