The sermon translated an arabic word that was believed to be men to have authority over women, but actually means men needs to be responsible to women. He was saying violence against women is actually violence against Allah. I like that. I hope men understand that they cannot just abuse women.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. It's also important that women understand that they cannot just abuse men in the ways that many women abuse men which can present differently from how many men abuse women as you likely know. Often, many women will abuse men just by the way in which they speak to men. Many speak to men in a condescending manner. Many boss men around when speaking to them. Many use threating words and/or a threatening tone of voice when speaking to them. Many women abuse men in how they communicate with them nonverbally, in how they use their gestures - their facial expressions, their body language, and so on. So sadly and dangerously speaking, disrespect and abuse happens both ways. Mutual respect, fair treatment, and love is what we need more of between the genders.
You're welcome. This video of a sermon given by Nouman Ali Khan addresses the responsibilities of both husbands and wives or of both genders. So yes, while men need to give women respect, women need to give men respect. It has to happen in both directions if men and women are to live together as one.
Thanks a lot Najwa for sharing this video. It is so powerful to note how religion speaks to men to support women. This is what God wants of men to be there for women and take up their roles as husbands. I appreciate so much.
Religion or Allah/God, The Supreme, The Most High, The Most Wise absolutely does. Religion or Allah/God also speaks to women being equally supportive of men in ways that are often different from how men are to be supportive of women but equally important. Just as God wants men to be there and take up their roles as husbands, He wants women to be there and take up their roles as wives. Our ears, our hearts, and our minds have to be open to and in tune to hearing what men need to do towards women as well as what women need to do towards men. We should not prioritize women's needs and rights over men's needs and rights. We must be fair and in doing so, the well-being of humans become the focus. In thinking and behaving according to a paradigm centered around justice, the priorities of all humans stay imperative and are more likely to be addressed.
Thank you for sharing, Najwa.
You're welcome.
Any thoughts on what was presented?
