Corona Hit Home and Home!

Oh life! Oh Corona!

First, we heard about it

It seemed really distant

We made fun of it, always

Every single hour, we laughed about it

Our jokes about corona were endless

 

Oh life! Oh Corona!

We never imagined it could hit home

But suddenly, it hit home, and then, it hit home

Cameroon registered it’s first case, and then, cases

Our family, too, registered its first case, then cases

So, you see, it hit home, and then, it hit home

 

Oh life! Oh Corona!

Our sister had caught corona

She coughed and coughed and coughed

Then came the fevers, they were so high and unending

Then the body pains and the headaches

We watched our sister cry and cry and cry – she told us she was not gonna make it

 

Oh life! Oh Corona!

Shortness of breath came for our sister – oh! Oh! Oh!

She was losing it

We were losing it too

Oh my God! She was put on ventilator

Days passed, we cried, we prayed, we could only hope

 

Oh life! Oh Corona!

No more video calls from sister

No more money for our goodies from our sister

No more warnings about corona from our sister

No word from our sister – no word at all

Our sister was sick, really sick -- our sister was on ventilator, then tracheostomy performed

 

Oh life! Oh Corona!

Our jokes and fun about corona suddenly reduced

We worried more

We hoped more

We prayed more

We slept less – our nights became our days

 

Oh life! Oh Corona!

Woot woot! The call we had been waiting for came in

All the way from Denver, Colorado, to Cameroon

Our sister was off ventilator, her results inactive

WAIT! Did I tell you our brother caught corona too – they were home mates?

Ah! Alas! Our sister survived -- Sister Erica survived! Our brother, too survive -- Brother Bali survived!  They both survived!!!

 

Corona is real!
