Holes in the heart confirmed

So, in the last post i told that i discovered that my son was Down Syndrome and he had an echo and murmurs in his heart. We left off where I had been directed to go see a Pediatric Cardiologist (PC)...

We made an appointment to go see this PC and when the day came, we took our son to him. He put my son under machines and did an echo, murmur and thyroid test on the boy, he also did other tests that passed over my head. After the tests he told us, yes, my son had 3 holes in his heart and the oxygenated and non oxygenated blood were mixing. However, he told us that every child is born with holes in their heart which close few days after birth, while other children it needs assistance. For Chris the doctor advised us to put him on medication for three months to give his body time to try close the holes. The medication  given, especially for thyroid was the most bitter medication I have ever tasted aagh!, and my one month son was to take it a couple of times in a day for several months! well for his own best interest I had to ensure he takes it

We thought it wise not to share this information with people except our Pastor, our parents and my husbands best friend Jose for the next 3 months or so. Not that we were ashamed of our son, but it was to keep out negative, discouraging and pretending people. I knew what my son son had and was going through, I knew what I needed to do and was doing it, I did need need woooiye! people and contrite voices of people who had diverse knowledge and ideas of what my son could be going through. My parents were encouraging, sad yes, but they created a pillar and pillow to fall on. Our Pastor, is the most wise and faith filled man I know. Upon sharing our situation, he told us to listen to him carefully, 'every gift of God is perfect, let nobody tell us otherwise, God had every reason to give us that child. We were the best parents that Chris could have been placed into. We should therefore give thanks. Also remember never to through God's gift back into his face, that is rude, instead, we should ask God to help us know his wisdom in Chris in our life.' He also said 'Yes, prayer works and he will pray for us, but we should not be foolish to sit and wait for it to happen from the comfort of our room. We should do due diligence concerning Chris and seek out the best treatment for him. God who can heal instantly also created doctors and gave them wisdom to treat while He heals. We should let God order our steps to the best doctors and to listen to them. Most probably, in fact, God left those holes there so they can be recreated and healed outside the womb so that He can receive the glory in the process'.

The session with my Pastor gave so much strength and hope and we left their with a resolve to give Chris the best.

After 3 months, we went back to see the pediatric cardiologist again, after the tests, he told us one hole has closed but the other 2 were resilient and becoming hypertensive, he decided to give us one more month of medication. I was not satisfied with this, we decided to seek a second opinion, the second PC advised us that it was in the best interest to have Chris go through a heart surgery. My hear sunk, do you now a human heart is as big as your fist?, imagine, a 4 months, 4kg babies heart size. But then, I snapped out of it and started thinking on how this will happen............
