Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I am just an ordinary young woman from Cambodia. I was born in middle-class family. During the last five years, my life was like a roller coaster. I and my family was in a very great depression because my precious mother was diagnosed cancer. I found out that my mother got cancer when I was sixteen, and she passed away last year when I was twenty one. Those five years, however, have taught me a lot about life. At first, I hated my life so much because I couldn't deal with the reality. I kept asking question: "Why cancer chose my mother?" "Why my family?" Of course, I couldn't get the answers. I finally stopped asking and fighting with these challenges. I tried to view my family problem from different perspective and opened up my mind. I found out that my family situation is tough, but there are many lives out there encountering tougher situations than mine.

I am currently a volunteer program coordinator at People Improvement Organization. I am working on establishing a program called PIO Girls Social Empowerment Program. This program helps girls in the organization by providing them consultation, education, and opportunities they might otherwise not have. When this program is up and running, I will be a counselor for those girls at the organization. I love this job even though it is just a volunteer one. I just want to help girls by using all kinds of knowledge and experiences that I have learned from school and my life. I want to those girls stand up for themselves and raising their voices with confidence and independence.

My Vision for the Future:
