My Assets Map

I am from Mexico. This a phrase that at least most of my friend and my close community are very proud of. As mexicans and latinos, we are constantly described as very happy people, with a free and energetic spirit with tons of hopes and dreams to come true. And all of that is true, yet, what people sometimes miss is the entrepreneurial spirit within mexicans and the latino communities. You would only need to go through the metro stations at any time during the day on any city and you would see how creative mexicans can get in order to make some money for their loved ones. I believe in this spirit and makes me positive that with just a glance of opportunity we can make great things.

The interesting thing about all these people is that most of the time they are women. So one of my personal hope and dream I have for my community, and for myself is to find ways to empower girls and women to not only be user of technology but creators. In the digital era we are part of its important that girls and women are exposed to information and have the freedom to decide what they want to do with their talents, skills and knowledge.

Personally, I'm mostly proud of being able to bring good people together and create amazing teams to work for impact. Also, communication skills have never been a problem since I've been able to create big alliances with multinational companies in Mexico for our social initatives and even blog for the Huffington Post Impact section.

The places that inspire me within my community are very diverse, some of them are inside the communities where women play a big role making everything happen and in public and/or private universities where everytime more and more young women are aware that they have a big responsibility to inspire others. I would say, these places are the ones where I feel more safe because of the freedom environment they bring. Regarding to advice, I've named informally some of my most inspiring teachers my personal mentors. I go to them because they don't tell me exactly what decision to make, but make me the right questions. Lastly, another skill I'm proud of is connecting people, goods and resources to build things together. So to address an issue I'm passionate about I would hessitate to reach my friends in different countries, reach universities, or ask for help with NGOs that are already doing field work in communities in Latin America to build a partnership and create greater impact.
