Profit from your Passion An Introduction to Synergy in Business: A Toolkit for Entrepreneurs

Welcome to Synergy in Business: A Toolkit for Entrepreneurs. Over the course of this World Pulse/ Pulse Wire Journal, you will be INSPIRED to start your own business, EDUCATED in business principles necessary for your success and ENCOURAGED to take the leap to PROFIT FROM YOUR PASSION.

Synergy in Business will also conduct interviews with women entrepreneurs and leaders from around the globe. We are connected by our womanhood, sisterhood and motherhood. Now let’s continue to connect through our nation-building, community-building and business-building.

Synergy Is

Synergy, derived from the Greek synergia, means joint work and cooperative action. When we connect and create an effect greater than going it alone, we are living in Synergy. A business that has tapped into its SYNERGY is a business that is WEALTHY, PHILANTHROPIC and poised for LONG-TERM GROWTH.

What Is Your Personal Story?

“Each of us can look at women that came before us and find an inspiration, a strength, a wisdom that has been passed down to us.”

I come from a legacy of women who started their own businesses from scratch. Reflecting on their life stories gives me confidence that all women can turn their hobbies, talents and skills into profitable businesses that support families and communities. I think about my great-grandmother who, against all odds, created a successful farming business. I think of both of my grandmothers who made businesses out of their love of sewing. And I see my mother today, who started her early education business almost 20 years ago at the age of 35, I continue to be inspired.

One year ago, I jumped into the entrepreneurs Club and I am having the time of my life! The leap was calculated, but still with great risk. What gave me the strength to Just Do It was a combination of faith, family and confidence that hard work and innovative ideas and strategies are still in demand in the marketplace.

Benefits of Entrepreneurship

Being a business owner is not going to be easy. But it is going to be REWARDING. The INDEPENDENCE, CREATIVITY and SATISFACTION from driving your own enterprise is unmatched. If you have any desire to take the entrepreneurial journey, here are some helpful tips:

“Successful businesses know how to create customers and keep them coming back for more.”

  1. Create Customers:

Figure out what’s missing from the marketplace. Where are the gaps in the service and product offerings? What do people need and what will they pay for? Align your passion with the services or products that will solve for the gaps you have identified.

  1. Connect with other Women in Business: When you start your business, please know there are so many women in business who are willing to share their experiences, challenges and network. You will find that once you enter the Club, there will be a committee of supporters, sponsors and ambassadors ready to be catalysts for your success. I have a team of women who constantly make introductions and market my business to their relationships. This resource has been the greatest source of my deal flow to date.

  2. Value your Business: I was recently reminded that I must put a price on my time, services, and expertise. Giving away free services or products is a strategy used to introduce and market businesses, however, when there is a customer that is not paying for your service or you give away too much, your price is being driven down and it will take lots of effort to get that customer back to your real value.

I Am Passionate About

Sharing everything I am learning as an entrepreneur with women around the globe.

Building wealth through business creation.

Using my talents to lift others up from poverty, hopelessness and pain.

I look forward to hearing from you and being a resource for your business endeavors.

Hi Nicole, I'm Sakhile from Zimbabwe and I work for Vision Consulting Africa, a youth development organisation focusing on youth enterprise and leadership development.

'Profit from your Passion' was not a phrase I heard often when growing up however I'm fortunate enough to have been able to find my passion at an early age and resolved to do it professionally and on a full time basis.

My personal story (in brief) is that I have been exposed to women who have always fought for what they believed in. I have been inspired by the strength that these women posess and yes their words of wisdom have been a constant support in my entrepreneurial journey. So much so in fact that I have made it my mission to inspire and support emerging young women leaders where and when I can.

I have found however that putting a price on my passion can be a challenge and realise that this is something I have to learn in order to 'Profit from my Passion'.

Hi Sakhile,

So nice to hear from you. We are both on that journey of putting a price on our passion. A result of knowing your passion is the understanding that it is something you would do even if you were not compensated monetarily because you get so much joy out of the work and the service. I admire what you are doing in Zimbabwe by creating entrepreneurs and inspiring leadership. I would be happy to brainstorm with you on ways you can grow Vision Consulting Africa in both size and revenues. The longer the business lives, the longer you can continue this amazing legacy.

Hi Nicole,

Indeed - 'the longer the business lives, the longer I can continue this legacy'. I have been a one man band / show for some time now and a year ago I realised that thinking I could do everything was a hinderance to the development of the business. To this end I've been trying to introduce structure to the passion and a year later I feel as though I've hardly moved an inch. We're in the process of 're-vamping' our website and I've been in discussions with one or two business development consultants on other ways to introduce that structure. Whilst in conversation, the necessity (or not) of Strategic and Operational Plans was brought up. What's your take on this and can I engage you in a brainstorming session that will hopefully result in my deciding whether these plans are necessary or not.

Regards Sakhile

Hi Nicole

Passion is a great foundation for any business. Imagine getting up every morning to get to a job you dont love, at the end of the tunnel lies stress, depression and emptiness. Nomatter how important money is, if you have the chance to do something you love then do it.

Passion pays
