From Silence to

I am nominating Nan Setterlund for the World Pulse award because she is an amazing woman and inspiration for me and other women. Her early years of life were filled with events that silenced her voice.  Now at this age she has not only found her voice, but uses it to make a difference in her local community and those communities in the US who are being unfairly treated. Her main focus is the precious commodity of water.  She went to North Dakota to support the Native Tribes who were fighting fracking and the damage it would do to their water supplies. But most importantly for her is the fight for clean water in her local community.  Farmers are putting manure on their fields and eventually the harmful chemicals eventually end up in their water.   When tested the water is not drinkable, so residents have to use bottled water.  She has attended all public forums, armed with statistics about the harmful effects of farmers' practices that have resulted in some positive changes.  Even though this is a small community, her strong voice is making a difference.  As Margaret Mead once said, \"I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow beings.\"
