THE VOICE GOD PROMISED TO KENYAN WIDOWS.

I nominate Dianah Kamande HSC.  A calm, polite, collected, bold and ambitious Kenyan widow who has dedicated her life to speak out for a special marginalized and forgotten population, The widows.  She has made known the challenges widows face, especially the extremely harmful traditional practices against widows. some of these challenges include: widow-inheritance, widow-cleansing, among other challenges associated with widow abuse.

Her passion is anchored from the fact that she has faced some of the challenges first-hand and understands where the shoe pinches most. In a status where members of the society no-longer wish to associate with, she enlightens the Kenyan community that widowhood is not a status of choice.  She advocates against widow abuse through empowering widows economically, conducting civic education and providing psychological support for widows who have been abused into depression. She also urges men to protect widows in their community so that they reduce widows' vulnerability to violence.

She touches the lives of the most vulnerable and hopeless widows. Her efforts have ensured that the government of Kenya is awake to the reality of the plight of widows. Truely, widows in Kenya see her as the gift God promised to them. Every day, she inspires me to use my knowledge for the benefit of such a needy population. Widows in Kenya are not in the same position as they were before she was widowed in 2013. More  information on her work can be found on her organization's website on www.cometogewoo.org, https://www.facebook.com/www.cometogewoo.org and her username on World Pulse is Dianah Kamande HSC.
