MY JOURNEY

My name is Uzoma Katchy . I am married and have four children. I am from Nigeria.

I am an advocate of change promoting women economic empowerment. I build the lives of women and girls through Leadership , Digital and Entrepreneurial Skills. I motivate them to explore opportunities that are available and encourage these women/ girls toparticipate in women initiatives and fora.

Recently, my social work is with students in a Government owned school. I discovered that there are no equipped libraries and the infrastructure that enables good learning is lacking. With not enough teachers, no desks for the students to sit with, to large sized number of students in a classroom , it is obvious that the quality of education received by these students is poor.

Most of the students are from poor households , some are orphans and some are being sexually abused by their wards. Unfortunately, there are no CARE CENTRES established to take in these girls.

There is a need for CARE/COUNSELLING CENTRES to be established inorder to cater for the needs of these sexually abused girls.

Recently , l went on a BOOK and DESK Drive, to get learning tools from well meaning individuals. If proper learning tools like books, desks, computers are received for this school, it will enable the students to develop skills requisite for this age and enhance their employability and economic empowerment.
