Introducing Myself

Hello, everyone I am so excited about the journey that I have chosen to embark on with World Pulse. I've justed finished persuing a degree in Gender and Development; however I do have a background in Film and Television. I love the art of story telling; and I beleive that a good story can change the life of anyone. In addition, I beleive that our ability to empower our communities is as goood as the communities that we choose; which is foremost reason for being apart of the World Pulse community.

I beleive that an arena specifically created for economic empowerment is key in the creation of goals. As a Gender and Development advocate I've realised that much of the inhibition and set backs that individuals undergo are the economic ones. Whether it's the lack of funding to educate oneself, or even the inabilty to finish a project due to the lack of resources; economic challenges are very much prevalent. In order to challenge these setbacks groups and initiatives such as these are important in addressing these difficulties. I have a vision to empower women's lives not only through having our storys told; however one that empowers women's lives economically. It is my intention to achieve this vision of mine and I am looking forward to the World Pulse community in helping me to achieve this.

Omoy, you are right that telling stories has an enormous power to connect people with each other, and empower communities through sharing of information and personal exeriences!  I especially like your comment that you believe in the power of stories to empower women economically.  There are a lot of economic injustices in various communties, and by sharing the stories and finding the common ground I hope we can come together to support more just economic systems everywhere.

I look forward to hearing more of the stories you have to share with everyone on World Pulse!  -Emily
