Voice For The Voiceless

I have an avid interest in using film and photography as a way in telling the storys of the lives of women. My desire is mostly rooted in telling the story of women whose lives and contributions are mostly overlooked. I live in Jamaica where a number of women earn there living by ways of non traditional forms of work. This is the woman who sells her Fried Fish, Bolied Crabs, Bananas, Mangoes. I beleive that these women play an important role in contributing to the economic development of the country. It's a means of empoweremnt, which I beleive is the essence and foundation of alot of grass roots movements.

I am inspired by much of the recent movements addressing racism and any area of in equalitys especially as it pertains to structural racism. This is an area that is dynamic and there are so many roots of injustice. Grass roots movemnt have always played a crucial part in addresssing these areas of injustice. From the movements that fought against the horrid Apartheid system in South Africa, or college students challenging the racist Jim Crow system in the United States. I am so happy about connections such as these which epitomizes the foundation of what Grass root movements are all about, I am ready.
