Mentorship Is Circling the Globe in Strong & Supportive Relationship beween A Mentor & A Mentee.

Encouragement is a process of making another person feel wanted and loved either by action or gesture. it really gives drive and propels the person being encouraged to do better.

Mentorship from my understanding is the ability to impart or transfer of knowledge from one person to another and following up on that person to be sure the knowledge is deep rooted and is being utilized properly. Mentor is the person transfering the knowledge while the person who receives the knowledge is the mentee.

The Changemaker program of World Pulse is one of the approaches being employed by World Pulse to mentor some grassroot leaders who indicated interest and is ready to follow the routine of mentorship that will last for 6 months; these leaders has been properly screened and where able to meet with all the criteria before they were chosen.

Goal: International Visibility for Women Grassroot leaders through Technology.

  1. Digitalization of the work of the Women Grassroot leaders

  2. Mentored Women Grassroot leaders to mentor others women in digital tools

The discussion was on Bias, Stereotypes and Intercultural Behaviours or Attitudes

How do we respond to certain issues or matters that happen around us daily? How do we respond or deal with other people that are not of the same race, gender, creed, class or status? Thinking around these issues will help us build a better understanding of other people recognizing that our journeys did not start from the same point and will or may not end at the same point.

Bias & Stereotypes are unconscious attitudes or feelings that may have cultural or racial undertone in responding to some actions which one may not voluntarily control. These biases may have been picked up knowingly or unknowingly from cultural or environmental orientation and are hard to overcome because they are deep rooted, so pops up mostly without the person’s control.

While Mindfulness is the awareness or control of your actions with regards to other people’s feelings and actions around you and around them.

Across the contributions to this topic I understood that we can actually pulse midway into bias and redirect our actions especially if it was going the negative way. Most contributors also say they are usually open minded in dealing with other people.

For me I am an open-minded person and it has worked a great deal for me. Anytime I tilt to other persons perception about something or persons, has always ended badly for me. So I align that we keep an open mind and even when your bias or stereotype wants to take better part of your action, reverse and apologise and start all over.

I am sure going to benefit from this program greatly because of the quality of persons involved that I have seen their contributions.

Thank you very much World Pulse Team for putting this program together. - Dawn, Ana, Manasa & Jill and to all the Mentors who have agreed to be part of this extra-ordinary program.
