A Letter Of Appreciation To My Mum

Hello Mama,

As I sit by my bed side this cool Sunday afternoon while the children are taking a nap, your thoughts just filled my mind and I'm feeling so emotional right now. I just flashed back to more than thirty years ago, thinking of how you painfully carried me for nine months in your womb as a farmer. It wasn't easy for you but as a diligent and hard working mom, you had to support daddy to put food on the table. After my birth, you didn't even rest for a few weeks to heal before you continued with your hard labour. This time, it was even harder because you had to carry me to the farm. You pushed through successfully with this herculean routine with my siblings and I for more than ten years before you and daddy were able to start a small provision business.

Amidst all the struggles, you built energy to be our first and best teacher, nurse, carer and counsellor. You ensured that our comfort became your daily delight even with the very little substance you had. You always held our hands and showed us the way until we could take matured steps of our own. Sweetest mum, many times I really wonder how you were able to sacrifice this much for us seeing that I'm now a mother and it's not easy at all. Oh mama.....through your love, I can truly relate Christ's unconditional love.

As I write in tears, my sincere wish now, is to buy the whole world for you. I remember many years ago when you had only five thousand naira in your bank account and I wanted to start my music career as a teenager, you used all of it to buy me a box guitar and you just told me not to worry about how we will feed because more money will come in for our feeding.

Mama'm, I'm short of words to express my feeling of deep gratitude. Your untiring hands of care have been extended to your grandchildren as they have gotten so used to your everyday calls. You're my heroine. A million and more of a mother. Your immeasurable sacrifices and love for me through the years have made me the humanitarian I am today and the best mom to my kids.  I wrote this letter to tell you that your motherhood is unmatchable (out of this world). Even in your old age, we your children and all your grandchildren called you BLESSED.

Your Baby,

Oty Nwa.

My mum's love taught me to always appreciate every mother and prospective moms because its a responsibility for a unique set of people. I use this medium to appreciate all World Pulse Moms because you're special like my mum. Keep being sweet because your kids have a lot to tell you.

Above is a chosen google art work I love, to showcase a mother's depth of love and connection to her children.
