Who Will Save the Child in a 3rd World Country.

Life is full of choices men and women make. While some choices are voluntary, some are involuntary. A child never chooses his/her parents, family, state and country of origin. While we recognize a known fact that everyone is largely responsible for the outcome of his/her life, we also need to give a thoughtful consideration to the child born in a disadvantaged or difficult environment like the underdeveloped societies plagued by insecurity, poverty, poor education, and low standard of living.

The cry of the child born in these affected countries should be heard and attended to. His/her age-group in developed countries dream, aspire and realize great goals set by good, comfortable and well supported family and societal system, but the child born in a third world country struggles with poverty and lives with only one purpose, which is to survive daily. He/she struggles with identity crisis and is forced into adulthood prematurely. The male child is made to work and earn his own living from a tender age of  7 years while his female counterpart is forced into marriage at age 12. Oh.....the untold and unheard cries of these precious children. Who will come to their aid?

In developed countries, statistics are well taken and documented of child population, health conditions, death rates, etc. In underdeveloped countries, statistics are hardly ever taken as countless children die from malnutrition, diseases such as malaria, cholera and poor healthcare system. Countless number suffer from disabilities caused by polio due to the gross ignorance of the parents and society regarding the availability and intake of appropriate vaccines. My heart yearns for the health of these helpless, innocent children who rely totally on their uninformed parents and the poor state of their environment.

Knowledge is power as well said. To deny a child of basic access to knowledge, is to cripple the potentials of such a child for life. It's a known fact that certain gifts and abilities are inborn and no two children, are ever the same. An innate ability is only well enhanced by knowledge acquisition. The child born in a third world country, cries for help to access basic education. Who knows, he or she may be carrying the answers to a present or future challenge affecting countless number of lives.

To attend to the cry of a child born in a disadvantaged society, is to save the future and make the world a safer and better place. Everyone has a part to play in response to the plight of these children. Together we can make it happen.
