As we continue to celebrate strides that have been made in Kenya, case point the recent promotion of Colonel Zippora Kioko as the first woman to hold the position of Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) Spokesperson, it is also time to talk about some of the existing deterrents in the advancement of women empowerment.

I look at those using the Kenyan media space as my reflection board.

Hi Patience,

How are you doing? This is amazing, and great that you know her, too! Were you able to send her a personal, congratulatory message? It does seem like it's a step in the right direction>

I hope you have a good week!

Hello Patience,
Thanks for sharing this great news!

It is encouraging that Kenya has appointed a first woman to be the Spokesperson for the KDF!
This is great as I hope that other African countries will follow Kenya's example.

It is extremely empowering to have women in such places of authority because there are many young women in Kenya who are silently emulating Colonel Zipporah Kioko's raise to power.
