WEB 2.0 AN EYE OPENER

Web 2.0 platform is captivating in the way it avails information from every part of the world to a common point that is, the Web, where everyone irrespective of race, culture or origin can access it. Moreover it has the ability to unite people all over the world bringing them together to speak on common issues affecting them. For instance through this avenue women all over the world are in a position to come up with common goals and decisions affecting them, something that is not effective in traditional media. Web 2.0also has immediacy in that one can get information just as it unfolds from any part of the world.
For a long time, the society has discriminated women in many matters. Women have been denied a chance to speak about what concerns them but Web 2.0 has offered a solution by availing a platform on which women can now raise their concerns and exchange views. They now have an opportunity to raise an alarm and advocate for their rights where denied. This in turn has helped propel the global women empowerment movement since women can now come out to speak boldly for themselves.
In the society, the concerns of women have not been given attention as the concerns of men. The society looks at a woman as subordinate to man. Women encounter many devastating issues yet the society shuts an eye on them. Web 2.0 is playing a role in bringing on board crucial matters that negatively affect women which initially were unheard off. It has also helped the concerned parties that advocate for human rights to know what is happening.
This platform has enabled women empowerment movement to reach to all women all over the world. The web through social media unifies the world and makes everyone reachable. This has made it easy empowering of women within the society. Because of the wider reach on the web it has helped access donors and supporters online for the projects aimed at helping women and girls.
Web 2.0 has opened my eyes to access and also share information about women and to spearhead women empowerment within my community. The platform is a good tool of exposure and education.
