Wanna Be Heard!

Born the 3rd and final child of my family, growing up with two older brothers meant I was always envying my friends and cousins who had sisters. I imagined how great life would be growing up with girls I could share my thoughts, secrets and clothes with. Rather than having snot-nosed brothers that tease and reduce you to tears the moment Mum and Dad leave the room.
Papua New Guinea (PNG) is going through some exciting historic times with the support Bill to reserve 22 seats for women in PNG Parliament. The same sisterly bond I longed for growing up has become apparent today amongst the various PNG Women’s groups fighting for this bill.
I am proud to say that PNG is a Christian nation where much of the population believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. And I believe that the 22 reserved seats for women is a result of the cries and prayers of the women of PNG.
For the last six years I have not been the ideal role model to my two elder sons (8years and 4years of age). I enjoyed drinking every weekend and rarely spent time with my boys. It was recently after the birth of my third son (turning six months on the 30th of this month) that I made the decision to commit my life to the Lord, grow up and change my attitude as well as letting go of some bad habits (such as drinking) for the betterment of my three sons and my marriage.
Luckily I come from a family that has a strong Christian foundation so the support and encouragement to keep the faith is all around me. My husband and I decided to dedicate our 3rd baby boy to the Lord and named him Canaan after the land of milk and honey the Lord promised to Abraham and his family and all future descendents.
My new relationship with Jesus Christ has opened my eyes, I have become more selfless and my attitude towards my circumstances, relationships and kids. I wanted to find meaning in my life and connect with other like-minded women. So, when my cousin sent me a forward from a friend of hers I felt my prayers had been answered.
And now that I have joined and read some of the amazing stories and articles on Pulse Wire I am liberated and inspired to want to reconnect with the women of my village here in Papua New Guinea who face the same hardships and issues as those of you living in developing nations.
If I can use the new found information shared generously on Pulse Wire to empower and enlighten my fellow PNG women I am sure I can make a difference in my community. I want to be heard!
