Oh, people of the world

Let us blossom

Don’t kill us in womb

We want to see

the beautiful world

Females are the

Wealth of Nation

Girls are as good as boys

Don’t kill us

Female foeticide is

A crime against women

Think it over

It should be banned

at all cost

No abortions

No female foeticide in future

To save the beautiful

Creation of God

Oh, people of the world

awake now

you will add one more

in the list of

endangered species.

Dear Priya,

First, I want to thank you for sharing this poem on the World Pulse forum, as well as in other publications when you were in school. I am inspired by the fact that you spoke out about gender-based violence at such a young age and that you continue to speak out.

The poem was extremely moving. It very directly states the evils of gender-based violence and calls for immediate action, all the while capturing one's emotions.

I think the power of this poem will continue to live on until the day when gender-based violence ceases to exist. Again, I thank you for sharing it and I hope you will continue to share with more people in the future.

Best regards,

Hi Priya, Thank you so much for sharing this poem. I think it's so cool you wrote it as a child and that it was published in newspapers and magazines. I watched a documentary about female foeticide in India and China on Netflix last year and I learned a lot. Your poem was beautiful and perfectly captures a difficult and sad topic. I was glad to read it. Best wishes, Julia

Hi Priya,

Beautiful and powerful  poem , with subleties and strong points together. Very mature to have written in your childhood. The poem makes us think as to why does female infanticide even exists in the first place. Makes the reader think twice. I hope more people read it and think twice.

Thank you
