Women Living with HIV and AIDS in Pakistan

Recently I had an opportunity to meet 39 years women at the HIV clinic in Islamabad. I was there at the clinic to interview women who are HIV +ve .This women ( I am not writing her name on her request) was first diagnosed as +ve three years ago when her husband was at the last stage of AIDS.She said that her husband was severly sick and he was taken to the district hospital where he was reffered to Rawalpindi for tests and treatment. He is no longer alive and she is living at her parents home with three children. She is a simple house wife who even cannot speak clear Urdu.Unaware of the severety and reality of HIV and AIDS she reffered this disease to her destiny .But she doesnot say anything about her husband who might be aware of his status and never disclosed his HIV status to her.
In Pakistan mostly women are getting infections from their husbands .Still there is no data available that how many women are being infected through husbands.
I was thinking that she is one example of those supressed Pakistani House Wives who are unaware about their Health rights and if at some stage in thier lives they need financial help who is going to help them cz in Pakistan still the focus is on creating awareness .I think the time has come now where we have to move further to creat a solid life skill programs for women living with HIV and AIDs.
