IDP WOMEN EMPOWERMENT OUTREACH
Women Empowerment

I run two women organizations in my Country Cameroon. Priceless Women is focused on women empowerment and Rahel Randy Foundation which is focused on promoting female literacy in Cameroon.

It's been an amazing journey for the past three years. I have been carrying out my projects and activities single handedly until recently alot of people kept encouraging me to approach the ministry of women's affairs and let them know what am up too so they can support me. However, I was reluctant but then I summed up courage and decided to give it a try and I was disappointed.

I will be hosting a women's empowerment conference from the 1st to the 2nd of November 2019 in Cameroon. One of my goal for this conference is to empower atleast 10 to 20 internally displaced women with atleast  a 50dollars cash envelope to enable them start small businesses to sustain their families as a result of the ongoing crisis in Cameroon and equally run a free breast cancer screening for all participants. After I submitted my letter and the upcoming conference project to the ministry of women's affairs the Delegate was impressed and assigned someone to represent her at the conference. I was happy to hear such feedback. I danced to the news only to be told I will have to pay transport for the Delegate's representatives and equally give them an envelope. This got me like " how does this demand support the work or empower the women? What happens to the annual budget this people vote for the said ministry to empower women?. I couldn't get answers so I left their office disappointed.

It's a hard to swallow such feedback. But then I won't let it discourage me. The conference will still push through and I will bring all the updates.

Dear Sister
You are doing great work here. You are really brave you. And although we are very far from each other but I morally support you dear. This model could replicate in our country Nepal too.

This is perseverance!!!

Hello Rahel, thank you for sharing your project . What you are doing is amazing. It's unfortunate that our system is that complicated and frustrating but we press forward because we were called to do what we are doing. I like to know where your conference will hold . If it's in Yaoundé, I will love to attend and maybe volunteer for that day . Hope to hear from you soon.

It's a complicated system my dear Christelle. Am glad you wish to volunteer unfortunately the event is taking place in Douala instead. Your offer to volunteer means alot to me. I sincerely appreciate.

Hello Dear Rahel,

It's sad that your event isn't being supported, but I know that you're resourceful and you will find a way to make it happen:-) Have the IDPS recipients already been identified or will that be at the conference? Do you have a link or FB post about this event to spread the word? Perhaps you could say that you're looking for funding and/or collaborators for it in the post? It's lovely to see that Jap is volunteering her services. How far are you funding-wise toward your goal? Please keep us posted, dear, and good luck!

Yes Jill, we have identified hundreds of IDP's (Internally displaced persons) but we can't empower them all at once because of inadequate funding. However, I will do the little I can do while hoping for funding or collaborators.

I have put up a post on Facebook here is the link https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2654421204622108&id=10000162....
With the funding I have not received any since I started sharing the post but then am still optimistic God can send us last hour help. Thanks again for your encouragement. I will definitely bring updates.

As usual I keep admiring your amazing charitable spirit. You are really doing a lots of work for your country.
Was wondering if you have other sisters in Cameron that are helping you? Not financially but as a team.

Hello Rahel! I appreciate your effort. Our system is very frustrating. I went through the same trauma of transport and envelope. I thank God for your courage. Our organisation will like to contribute in helping these IDPs in building their capacity in the area of entrepreneuship, production of detergents, food processing and cosmetics. I belief the money and skills together will make them stronger.
