An open letter to the old aged people

Taeko Hayashi , the president of the space wood, accompanied my visit to the newest Aged People’s home run by Benesse Corporation Japan. Thank you must not be enough for responding to my sudden request on making visiting nursing house possible. Though I was completely amazed by the management of the nursing house. Everything was ensured with great responsibility and great concern and care . The cultural values of the people inside the nursing home, among the staff and between the people themselves residing there could not stop me from staring at them, however, as I left the nursing house I ended up talking to myself!

Dear old people,

Perhaps in you we see an old soul that has forgone the days of its childhood, adolescent and the youth. Perhaps old age is seen not anymore in twilight of their lives in our eyes. Perhaps we think that you don't understand, your thinking level shrink to that of a new born child growing up. You often question things more then once and we get a little uneasy about that. You might want us to be around you and need our company just to have random talks and out of our busy schedule we can't make time for you. Because we are busy fulfilling the deadly demands of the rapidly growing world and thus we run out of time to be available for you 24/7. It is not our fault. Is it? Its not our fault that you gave your life making life easy for us until we could really stand on our own and face the world. Its not our fault that you ruined your days and nights in our service while we were growing up. You need to understand that with the speedy demands of the world we have to chase our desires and I am sorry we can't be available for you every time you need us .

I don't know why but I see in an old age a growing up child . I see in their eyes the thirst searching for love and care and understanding. Would that if every one of us comprehend the care you as our parents have given us while nurturing us up!! Could any thing on this earth back up the sleepless nights you as parents have spend in our honor? Isn't it like until we become enough mature and start earning a living you as our parents serve us as ATM machines where we can withdraw money from for our school expenses, our personal expenses and luxury too. Half of your life is spend in our service and when you become old we are just too busy with fulfilling the world's demand.Who should be blamed now? should I not blame us or should I rather blame the world for rapidly growing and make life harder for us.

Please tell me how did you manage both life and us while weweregrowing up and needed you the most? Why did not you just hand us over to the best served child care near by our house so that you could chase your dreams!!

Does not matter how reliable nursing houses are every one of us need to understand that once we were growing up as a child you have always been there for us despite child care being available almost in every street, and despite your busy schedules of chasing your dreams of world demands come true. It is our fault that we can't make time for you and that I would always be sorry for. Forgive me if you can!

Sincerely, Rakhshi

Rakhshi my dear

Thank you for this wake up call.

In my  context we don't have homes for the old but most of our parents are left to themselves while we chase our dreams in the cities.

We try from time to time and send things and money and visit once in a while but we know if we had a situation they will show up at our doorsteps almost immediately.

I agree with you we are to blame for not making the time to show them the love and care they need in their old age.  We need make out time for our parents.

Thank you for the wakeup call.

My dear

I am very much pleased if you find it a wake up call. The world badly need to wake up at this moment and really think without our parents we would not be who we are today.

Hello Rakhshinda,

This write up touched me so much. Many a times we need to create time for them because all they need from us is care, love and understanding.

Thank you for sharing the amazing piece.
