" Technology offers many learning experiences including livelihood opportunities. I can attest to all the benefits and learning opportunities I have had online!!!”
One of the greatest benefits I have had in using technology is that I have learnt a lot on You tube especially as I have had a lot going on in my life lately and find it difficult to create the time for face-on-face training.
It’s been my passion to acquire more skills so I could add those am already teaching at my organization's training workshop where I empower deaf and Vulnerable persons and also teach them how to expand their markets using technology.
I had made up my mind to empower them on the production of Kenyan beaded necklaces and bracelets to add to the usual beaded sandals that are being produced and sold at the center on a normal daily basis. The motivation behind that is the fact that Christmas which is a festive period is fast approaching and there will be a high demand for such products. Therefore, it’s an opportunity for these women and girls to make more money.
Considering that I had so much on my plate the last few months, I decided on taking advantage of the tech opportunities to learn online. By so doing I will have the opportunity to learn as many designs as desired at my own convenience.
The picture above shows only one of the many designs I have learnt. Am so excited as I look forward to training more learners on this new skill and if course drill them on how to better market them using technology tools so they could also impact more women and girls before the end of the year.
All thanks to technology these women and girls well not only become financially viable but would also act as trainers to more women and Vulnerable persons in their communities thus ensuring a multiplier effect.
I call on all stakeholders to give more technology empowerment opportunities to women and girls so they may be able to access learning opportunities online.
Thank you, World Pulse, for continuously creating awareness on the importance of getting as many women as possible on board so they could become connected and empowered with technology skills.
