Does The Indian Census of 2011 Anger You?

Hello Friends,

India's 2011 census results were just out and the news regarding the gender ratio gap is awful. It is the worst in 70 years!

Does it make you as angry and ashamed as it makes me?

If we in India feel ashamed -- why is this happening?

And it gets worse among the middle and upper educated classes? And among the expatriate Indians that forced countries like the U.K. and Australia to change their laws and ban sex-selected abortion? What good is education?

And it is not just selective female feticide -- what this census shows is that girls under 6 years are getting killed at an alarming rate. How are they getting killed? That is what this post on Gender Bytes is about. When we talk about 'gender ratios' what we forget is that we are talking about human beings, girls, -- human rights!
