Rit has been a broadcast journalist since 2007..She is a cinematographer, video editor/producer/ script writer cum poet..
I have been blessed with three great siblings and lots of wonderful friends and family...I have survived living in Lagos(which means I qualify to live anywhere in the world). I have shot some amazing videos and met wonderful people... I have visited one of the 8 wonders of the world (Taj Mahal) it's indeed a wonder to behold. I have been blessed to enjoy the pleasures of traveling across my country and interacting with people from different parts of the world. From these experiences I have learnt that most of our challenges especially as women are universal...I am currently, News Editor at 99.9 Kiss FM Abuja, where I push for unbiase, human angle reflective reportage.
I enjoy advocacy and team building it helps us improve on ourselves and others.
Because of my passion I am a member of the Girls-voices, which creates a safe interactive space and platform for girls, together with Carolyn Seaman and her team we reach young girls with a message of strength, possibility and success. I am also part of a team, “Premiere Information Services” in Nigeria which launched a “Children’s Handbook on the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria”. This will be officially launched by Nigeria’s Senate president this July/August. The Handbook was born out of a desire to educate children from a young age their rights, obligations and benefits as citizens of Nigeria.
I mentor adolescents in media development and broadcasting under a platform the “MADinitiative” Nigeria (Media Advocacy and Development Initiative) which helps young people channel their media interests positively. I also volunteer and contribute to ‘Nawaya initiative and the Tender feet project which provides shoes to children in hard to reach communities.
I only recently started developing a business idea on organic foods and vegetables, I am optimistic that when the plan is fully developed it will not just be an added source of income for me but offer employment to other women.
I believe in mentoring and providing a conducive atmosphere for girls to learn and grow. The future of our world is in the voice of the girls we raise to become strong women.
I see a future where success is possible and achievable unhindered for young girls and women. I see a future where equality and justice is not just a news item but an actuality, a future where our environment is safer and heading towards ending climate change. I see a future where the media becomes a stronger tool for empowerment.
