"Why I joined this group"

Leaders are made not born. Behavioral Theories believe that people can become leaders through the process of teaching, learning and observation. It is this phrase that got me sown the path of leadership. I am Nigeria, a broadcast journalist living in my nation's capital (Abuja). Apart form my job as News Editor in a radio station, I am a strong member of Girls-Voices which creates a safe interactive space and platform for girls, together with Carolyn Seaman who is also on world pulse we reach young girls with a message of strength, possibility and success.

I am also part of a team, which launched a “Children’s Handbook on the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria”. The Handbook was born out of a desire to educate children from a young age their rights, obligations and benefits as citizens of Nigeria. Among other things I do on a religious platform, I mentor adolescents in media development and broadcasting under a platform the “MADinitiative” Nigeria (Media Advocacy and Development Initiative) which helps young people channel their media interests positively.

I used to be timid, laid back and shy because of several childhood challenges but as I grew and met with mentors, my life took a turn and I realized I am a leader where God has placed me. I chose to follow the path of leadership by being an example to those looking on and by that influence change in them.

I intend to soak in all the lessons I can from the amazing stories women in this group will be sharing, I will also like to make new connections and friends. I desire solutions and best ways of engaging young girls and building them to leadership positions.

I appreciate Carolyn Seaman for introducing me to World Pulse, she is a true leader and champion in girls issues. It is by working with people like her that I sharpen my leadership skills and drive.

looking forward to a productive time on this group.
