Something Greater than a Label

This picture reflects so much about my personality. Who I am, what I choose to believe in, but this picture comes with judgment, questions, and conflict. As Socrates said for I know that I know nothing at all. When I took this picture one day in church after service, it was a moment where the stain glass reflected a piece of my soul. Something greater than judgement that was reflected on me from the influence of the world.

I am a seeker. I believe in Jesus but I am different because I believe everyone is right in their own way. Jesus did not stop loving people who did not believe, he did not persecute them, and he reached his hand out to the rejected members of society. The poorest people he preached would have the biggest blessing in heaven.

I just relate more to the people that were rejected, the misfits, the poor, and the lowly. Knowing the power of God is awesome, I have something more to look forward to when I exercise my faith. If Jesus loved them, then I know he loves me.

Where others label me because of my gender, skin color, ethnicity, status, class and even criticize me for believing in God in my own way, practicing Yoga, and questioning religions ills, God finds me fit to be a queen. I find that my style is who I am and I was made this way for a reason. I can only share my vision with you the way I know how and through the Gifts God has given me. To try it any other way would leave my vision distorted but then no one, not even me would like it.

These photographs were taken with a camera, but I molded that camera to fit my style. Using the zoom on my lens to pinpoint the target. Just like my style of photography fits me, the same goes for every single human being and how they find God. This is why I say everyone is right so long as you are seeking God with all your heart. He/she has many names. Each bible interprets what is God inspired through words man has written but somewhere deep down inside we know as human beings we are all connected through a spiritual being that is greater then us, a creator.

So at first look you may label me as a Christian and that is okay, but through my words I prefer to discard the label because a label does not save souls. A label does not give people comfort when they are in pain. Labels are convenient ways to disregard valuable information in a justified manner to calm the mind.

There have been many spiritual teachers to roam this earth which I respect. We all learn differently, why else would there be so many great ones. Could it be that each teacher is effective because he or she relates to one culture of people who has different needs from another one? We must ask ourselves questions when feelings arise, looking deeper into why we believe what we believe. You are my brother because you are my brother, and my sister because you are my sister. I must love my creator and I must love you.. For both reflect the pieces that reside with in me.
