Gradually, I Got Involved

I remember opening my very first email account in 2006, and my online journey started. Then to keep pace with the teenage trends, I created my facebook account but still unknown and naïve about the strong power of the online networks I became a part of.

To be honest, at the beginning, I wasn’t a fan of online networking. I always thought these are tools people use just to pass time. The thought of being actively involved in any kind of online community never occurred to me until I got enrolled into university. I started using internet mainly for the sack of my assignments and study research. However, as I started explore the vast online resources and experienced its enormous usage, I, unknowing, got dragged into the world of digital networking. Captivated and motivated at the same time, I came to know how powerfully these tools can be used for the betterments of mankind which beforehand I had considered as only time pass. I felt like I had wasted so much time by deliberately being alienated from the online world and missed so many chances to make a change. So I started using internet frequently and made following up different online communities as part of my regular activities. I started to feel connected with the whole world.

Few months back, one day one of my cousins from another country called me and told that he had read one of my writings online. First I was shocked and then, as he explained, I remembered that he was talking about one of the journals I wrote for one of my courses and had to post it online as a class requirement. Upon hearing that, a different kind of confident aroused inside of me. If my writings are being read by people all around the world, it means my worlds are being heard and my message is being conveyed. So, I started to search for opportunities that would give me better ways to reflect on different issues that concern me and represent my perspective of the world. And, finally, I found my way to World Pulse. It was one of my teachers who mailed us about World Pulse- Voices of Our Future opportunity. Since I previously read World Pulse magazines in our library and was well aware about the powerful voices of this community, I couldn’t resist but grad a hold of this chance.

Journalism has always been one of my fields of interest and writing has been my passion. Combining these two, Voices of Our Future community gives me a perfect opportunity to achieve efficiency on both of these fields and supports my vision to be the voice of those who can’t speak for themselves, both human and animal.
